One of the hardest things you have to do is say goodbye. Over eight years ago, my husband’s cat passed away after a battle with diabetes and a neurological seizure. We went a few days later to the local animal shelter and picked out a little black Persian kitten. But we couldn’t have him for a while since ringworm and another respiratory illness was going around the animal shelter.

When we finally got to have him-a month later-he proved to have more issues than we could have imagined. But we loved him so. He should have passed long ago, but unfortunately today, Griffin’s ninth life ended. He was suffering. I decided to let him go peacefully. My youngest son and I went to the vet clinic and stayed with Griffin while the vet put him to sleep. I watched his labored breathing ceased and bawled my eyes out. I am still crying as I write this.
